SynapseX concepts

This is the one part of the documentation that describes both SynapseX products at once. Everything else belongs to a single product and says so at the top of the page.

Read these four pages when you want to understand why something is the way it is, rather than how to do a specific task.

Start with the boundary

Almost every confusing thing about SynapseX comes from the same root cause: there are two products, two accounts and two wallets that share one brand.

  • Two products, two accounts — the whole difference in one table: where you sign in, how you pay, the credit units, the key formats, the model catalogs and the id spellings. If you read only one page here, read this one.

Then the rest

  • How SynapseX works — how the surfaces, the models and your account fit together.
  • Device login — the short-code flow that authorises SynapseX Desktop and the CLI without pasting a key.
  • API keys and scopes — the two key formats, what a scope actually enforces, and how to store keys safely.

Where to go next

Once you know which product you are in, go to its section:
